Thomas Wins Men's Soccer Title

The number two seeded Thomas College Terriers defeated the number four seeded Lyndon College Hornets 3-1 in the North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Championship. This is the first time that Thomas has won the Men's Soccer Title since joining the NAC in 2002. Tournament MVP Michael Hand (United Kingdom) scored two goals in the victory.

The Hornets struck early in the game scoring in the first 46 seconds of the game when Kyle Mecham (Wilbraham, MA) put in a header off of a Emmitt Simpson (Barton, Vt.) free kick.

The Terriers were able to tie the game in the 23rd minute when Hand scored his first goal of the game off of a Kennen Hoedemaker (New Zealand) assist.

At the half the scoreboard read 1-1.

Hand scored his second goal and the eventual game winner in the 49th minute off of a Harley Colman (England) assist. Giving the Terriers the 2-1 lead.

The Hornets went down a man when a red card was issued in the 70th minute. Dylan Keller (Freedom, Maine) scored off Hodemaker's second assist in the 71st minute.

Both keepers played a brilliant game on their way to making the all tournament team; Lyndon's Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) made nine saves and Thomas keeper Mikkail Crockwell (Bermuda) made six saves in the victory.

Thomas will wait for the section show on Monday November 8th to see who their opponent will be in the NCAA tournament.
