CASTLETON, Vt. – The Thomas College women's basketball dropped a 69-58 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on the road at Castleton on Saturday afternoon.
In the loss, the Terriers now sit at 8-8 (5-4 NAC) on the season while the Spartans remain unbeaten in conference play at 14-2 (10-0 NAC).
The Spartans defense forced the Terriers into eight turnovers in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 16-8 lead. Jordan Turner (Casco, Maine) added a pair of buckets for Thomas in the frame.
The Terriers chipped away at the deficit in the second as Amira Jones (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded nine of her team's 12 points to bring Thomas within seven points at the half. Makayla Farrara led the Spartans with eight points in the first half.
Castleton began to pull away in the third quarter as their offense found a rhythm on 9-of-16 shooting. The 55-37 hole was too much for the Terriers in the final frame as the Spartans held on just enough for the 69-58 victory.
The Spartans were led offensively by Farrara as she held a game-high 21 points along with five rebounds while Brooke Raiche added 10 points off the bench in the win.
Jones and Turner combined for 30 points and 17 rebounds in the effort while Molly Carroll (Southwest Harbor, Maine) contributed with 10 points for Thomas.
The Terriers will return home on Tuesday, January 23 as they host Maine Maritime Academy at 5:30 p.m.
