WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College athletic department has announced the hiring of Tayler Collins as an assistant women's basketball coach for the 2017-18 season. Collins will join head coach Emily Cummins for her fourth season at the helm of the Terriers.
Collins recently finished her first season as the interim assistant women's basketball coach at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. The Bobcats compete at the NCAA Division III level which will make an easy transition into her new role at Thomas.
Prior to her coaching career, Collins was a four-year member of the Lees-McRae College women's basketball program. In her collegiate career, she appeared in 102 games for the Bobcats, starting in 51 of them. Collins averaged 7.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in her final two seasons.
"We are fortunate to have Tayler join our coaching staff," said Cummins. "She brings a positive dynamic to our program through her knowledge, her experience as both a player and coach, and her enthusiasm for the game. Tayler is an excellent addition not only to our basketball family, but to Thomas College."
Originally from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Collins earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Administration from Lees-McRae in 2016 with a concentration in business management and minor in elementary education.
