WATERVILLE, Maine – Sophomore Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) threw complete game shutout for the Thomas College softball team as they defeated crosstown rival Colby College, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon.
The Terriers improve to 3-12 in their first game back from their spring trip while the Mules drop to 4-7 on the season.
LeBourveau, reigning North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, kept the Mules offense silent all game. She threw all seven innings, allowing three hits while striking out three.
Julia Saul was given the loss for the Mules as she went 6.1 innings, allowing six hits and one run. Wiley Holton came in relief in the top half of the seventh to get the final two outs.
Senior Korrie Laren (Blackstone, Mass.) put the only run on the board in the top of the fourth as she led off with a solo homerun for her first of the season.
The Mules threatened in the bottom of the sixth with two outs as Skylar Labbe doubled to right center. Ella Hommeyer singled to center field, giving Labbe a chance to score. The throw to home plate from sophomore Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine) caught Labbe in a run down, eventually tagging her out to end the inning.
In their next game, the Terriers will open their North Atlantic Conference schedule against Johnson St. on Saturday, April 8.
