Castleton, Vt. – The number four seeded Thomas College Men's Lacrosse team (5-10, 4-3 NAC) season came to a close yesterday as they fell victim to a 29 goal routing from the number one seeded Castleton State Spartans (11-6, 7-0 NAC) in the North Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament Semi-Finals. The Terriers were able to muster up three goals in the game two coming from freshman Gunnar Shelton.
Alex Green's third goal of the contest came with 2:05 left in the first half, giving Castleton a 21-1 lead. While inconsequential to the outcome, the goal gave the freshman attackman 43 on the season, breaking the previous Castleton record of 42 set by Geoff Simons in 2000.
Castleton answered with 10 straight goals, to push the lead to 23-1 with 10:21 left in the third period.
Shelton led the Terriers with two goals, and Morse finished with a pair of assists.
Castleton held a 59-18 advantage in shots and a 72-27 edge in ground balls.
Jesse Morkeski made nine saves in the loss, while Dave DeGhetto started and earned the win making three saves. Tom Manley stopped two shots in 20 minutes of relief.
