Terriers Second Half Push Falls Short

Schenectady, N.Y. – The Thomas College Terriers (0-4, 0-0 NAC) were unable to capitalize on their second half push, as they fell to the Cazenovia Wildcats (1-2) 18-9 in non-conference play Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, the Wildcats were able to take the lead behind four goals from Gareth Fabian. Their defense held the Terriers to only five shots in the half. Thomas was able to get on the scoreboard with 8:25 left in the second quarter when Geoff Carpenter scored his first collegiate goal. Cazenovia led 13-2 at the half.

Thomas would come out in the second half looking to make a comeback, scoring four times in the third quarter. Freshman Jordan Marino would also score his first collegiate goal off of a Bradley Stiles assist which began the first of four straight Terrier goals. The Wildcats were able to hold on and secure the victory.

Stiles led the Terriers with a hat-trick and two assists while splitting time at both attack and midfield for Thomas. Stiles also went 5-for-8 at the face square.

Thomas goalkeeper Jesse Morkeski recorded 16 saves, while Alex Iannicello and Pat Boyle split time in net for Cazenovia.

The Terriers will be back in action on Sunday against Mt. St. Vincent (N.Y.) on the road. The scheduled faceoff time is 1:00pm.
