HALLOWELL, Maine – The Thomas College ice hockey team allowed four second period goals in a 6-1 loss to the University of New England (Club) in an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) contest on Friday at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault.
The Nor'easters opened the scoring midway through the first as Drew Sommerhof netted a goal from Donovan Connor.
UNE cranked up the offense in the second period as they exploded for four straight goals in the last 16 minutes from Dawson Cote, Noah Luccini, Ethan Gamble, and Dylan Poirier for a 5-0 lead.
Thomas eventually broke the shutout big at the seven minute mark of the third as Zach Gagne (Augusta, Maine) scored on a feed from Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vermont). The Nor'easters tacked on one more goal before the final buzzer from Tommy Dzis to end the scoring at 6-1.
Tom Green (Biddeford, Maine) shouldered the loss in goal for the Terriers while AJ Gugliara earned the victory for UNE.
The Terriers will be right back in action on Saturday, December 2 as they face Colby-Sawyer at 7:20 p.m.
